Our latest Hometown Hero is Sgt. Carl Wassberg.  Sgt. Wassberg graduated from Terre Haute South Vigo in 2006 and was off to boot camp for the Marine Corps the next month.
He served his first tour in Iraq a year later.  His next tour was with the Navy as part of the U.S.S. Boxer strike group, mostly in Africa and was part of a team that had an impact on the Captain Phillips rescue in 2009.  Sgt. Wassberg was a dog bomb handler in Afghanistan next and he returned to Afghanistan in 2013.  He's earned several ribbons, medals and commendations during his service in the Marine Corps and has more than fulfilled his duty to his country.  For that we are honored to name Marine Sgt. Carl Wassberg of Terre Haute as our latest Hometown Hero.
