If you're not the kind of person who knows how to check your oil color or levels, don't worry! There are other signs you will notice by simply driving your car that it's time for an oil change.
1. Your engine is louder than normal
Without the correct amount of clean oil, your engine will make a loud grinding noise. You should be able to hear an overall increase in volume and strain on your car when you are running low on oil.
2. Your car is sputtering
If the oil in your car is old, it can become clogged in the oil filter. A clogged oil filter will not let oil pass through like it would normally, which affects the engine's ability to maintain consistent speed. You might not notice a hard sputtering, but you should feel some evidence of sputtering.
3. Check engine light comes on
Finally, your check engine and/or oil light will be activated in your dashboard if you are in need of an oil change. Remember to pay attention to these lights and take your car in for service as soon as possible when you see these lights are activated.
